I'm sorry I didn't get any reviews out this week! School started and it was a little crazy. But I won't let the reviews stop because of school again. I just needed to get the hang of things. So here are this week's releases:
September 8
Maggie Sanders might be
blind, but she won't invite anyone to her pity party. Ever since losing
her sight six months ago, Maggie's rebellious streak has taken on a life
of its own, culminating with an elaborate school prank. Maggie called
it genius. The judge called it illegal.
Now Maggie has a
probation officer. But she isn't interested in rehabilitation, not when
she's still mourning the loss of her professional-soccer dreams, and
furious at her so-called friends, who lost interest in her as soon as
she could no longer lead the team to victory.
Then Maggie's whole
world is turned upside down. Somehow, incredibly, she can see again.
But only one person: Ben, a precocious ten-year-old unlike anyone she's
ever met.Ben's life isn't easy, but he doesn't see limits, only
possibilities. After awhile, Maggie starts to realize that losing her
sight doesn't have to mean losing everything she dreamed of. Even if
what she's currently dreaming of is Mason Milton, the infuriatingly
attractive lead singer of Maggie's new favorite band, who just happens
to be Ben's brother.
But when she learns the real reason she can
see Ben, Maggie must find the courage to face a once-unimaginable
future... before she loses everything she has grown to love.

A captivating and
profound debut novel about complicated love and the friendships that
have the power to transform you forever, perfect for fans of The Perks
of Being a Wallflower.
Mira is starting over at Saint Francis
Prep. She promised her parents she would at least try to pretend that
she could act like a functioning human this time, not a girl who can’t
get out of bed for days on end, who only feels awake when she’s with
Sebby.
Jeremy is the painfully shy art nerd at Saint Francis
who’s been in self-imposed isolation after an incident that ruined his
last year of school. When he sees Sebby for the first time across the
school lawn, it’s as if he’s been expecting this blond, lanky boy with
mischief glinting in his eye.
Sebby, Mira’s gay best friend, is a
boy who seems to carry sunlight around with him. Even as life in his
foster home starts to take its toll, Sebby and Mira together craft a
world of magic rituals and impromptu road trips, designed to fix the
broken parts of their lives.
As Jeremy finds himself drawn into
Sebby and Mira’s world, he begins to understand the secrets that they
hide in order to protect themselves, to keep each other safe from those
who don’t understand their quest to live for the impossible. Source

Lorrie Hollander used
to be a rich girl, but now she’s lost everything because of the secrets
and lies of the people around her. It’s been 12 years since Lorrie’s
mother skipped town and left Lorrie in the care of her unstable aunt
Gigi. Together they live in a neglected, decrepit mansion called
Edgewater, the eyesore in a town of extraordinary wealth and privilege.
When Charlie, the son of an esteemed senator, takes an interest in
Lorrie, her shame for her family and lifestyle runs deep. But what she
doesn’t know is that Charlie’s family is hiding something, too, and that
their secrets are inextricably tied. Now Lorrie must confront the truth

Fourteen-year-old Joan
Skraggs, just like the heroines in her beloved novels, yearns for real
life and true love. But what hope is there for adventure, beauty, or art
on a hardscrabble farm in Pennsylvania where the work never ends? Over
the summer of 1911, Joan pours her heart out into her diary as she seeks
a new, better life for herself—because maybe, just maybe, a hired girl
cleaning and cooking for six dollars a week can become what a farm girl
could only dream of—a woman with a future. Newbery Medalist Laura Amy
Schlitz relates Joan’s journey from the muck of the chicken coop to the
comforts of a society household in Baltimore (Electricity! Carpet
sweepers! Sending out the laundry!), taking readers on an exploration of
feminism and housework; religion and literature; love and loyalty;
cats, hats, and bunions. Source
Sibling rivalry goes too far...
Sixteen-year-old
Kasey Fishbein has a lot to repent for. She single-handedly abandons
the dance team right before Nationals, ruins her best friend’s love
life, alienates the guy she loves, and permanently injures her older
sister’s hip, effectively destroying Lara’s prominent dance career.
Guilt keeps eating away at Kasey but no one will listen to her
apologies. So she does the next best thing: she starts a blog to confess
her sins.
But the only way to truly earn forgiveness from those
she wronged isn’t to offer them an explanation. It’s to fix everything
she broke. She may not be able to help her sister dance again, but there
has to be another way to get her back on her feet. Literally. Right? Source
Fifteen-year-old bender

saurians? What are you? people ask, and Kivali isn’t sure. Boy/girl?
Human/lizard? Both/neither? Now she’s in CropCamp, with all of its
schedules and regs, and the first real friends she’s ever had. Strange

Radio. Will it be enough to save her? A coming-of-age story rich in

novel will resonate with teens just emerging as adults in a sometimes
